What to Expect During Your First Dental Visit
Here’s what you can expect during your first visit:
- Warm Welcome: When you arrive, our friendly front desk staff will greet you and help you with any necessary paperwork.
- Medical History Review: We’ll review your medical and dental history. Please bring any relevant information, including a list of current medications.
- Initial Examination: One of our dental hygienists will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and gums, checking for any signs of decay, gum disease, or other issues.
- X-Rays: To get a comprehensive view of your oral health, we’ll take X-rays. These images help us detect problems that aren’t visible during the initial examination.
- Cleaning: A professional cleaning will be performed to remove any plaque and tartar buildup, leaving your teeth feeling fresh and clean.
- Exam with the Dentist: Our dentist will review your X-rays and examination results. We’ll discuss any findings, answer your questions, and develop a personalized treatment plan if needed.
- Oral Cancer Screening: Our dentist and hygienist will check for signs of cancer or precancerous conditions in the mouth. During the exam, the provider will:
Examine the lips, gums, tongue, inner cheeks, roof and floor of the mouth, and the throat for any abnormalities such as red or white patches, sores, or lumps.
Feel for unusual growths or lumps in the neck, head, face, and oral cavity.
The goal is to identify early signs of oral cancer, which can lead to better outcomes with early treatment.
- Scheduling Follow-Up Appointments: If additional treatments are required, we’ll help you schedule follow-up appointments that fit your schedule.
We aim to make your first visit as comfortable and informative as possible. Feel free to ask any questions or share any concerns you might have. We’re here to ensure your dental health and well-being!
